AZ Foothills Magazine Honors NAC CEO as Woman Who Moves the Valley!

01.25.10

On January 22, 2009, Diana Yazzie Devine was honored as one of 10 "Women Who Move the Valley" by Arizona Foothills Magazine. The awards now in their third year honor an influential group of women who help move our valley in a positive direction. This year women were selected from the fields of business, sports, food, philanthropy, arts, culture and health.

Arizona Foothills Magazine chose Diana Yazzie Devine for her lifelong career in tribal services and her commitment to the health and well being of the Native American Community. Yazzie Devine leads Native American Connections in helping more than 5,000 Native Americans each year become self sufficient through a variety of service programs including supportive housing and behavioral health services. "I really like that I've been able to build a full continuum of taking somebody from a desperate homeless situation to becoming a homeowner", stated Devine in her "Women Who Move the Valley" interview.

The women who were horned were treated to a brunch at The Ritz Carlton, which their colleagues and friends were invited to attend, and were presented with a plaque with the framed article on the women as it appeared in the January issue of Arizona Foothills Magazine.

Native American Connections is fortunate to have such a strong leader at the helm of its organization. Through training, empowerment and support of employees and volunteers Yazzie Devine has created a community within NAC whose focus is strengthening fellow community members and their families.
