Continuing to advance their mission to improve the lives of Native American individuals and families, Native American Connections (NAC), is expanding their services to include outpatient behavioral health services to children and youth ages 0 to 21.
The services are the result of a new contract with Magellan Health Services. NAC will be a Qualified Service Provider within the People of Color Network. The 12 Principles of Child and Family Teams will be reflected in all aspects of the behavioral health services provided. These include intake and assessment, case management, counseling, and family support services, which are provided with the direction of each client's Child and Family Team.
NAC will continue to offer Adolescent Intensive Outpatient (AIOP) services at its administration building in partnership with Magellan Provider Networks. In addition, NAC will begin offering AIOP services in the community in partnership with juvenile probation and parole offices in April.
This past January, Native American Connections entered into a business management agreement with HomeBase Youth Services (HBYS), a community-based nonprofit agency which offers programs that provide a continuum of care for at-risk and homeless youth ages 21 and under. In an effort to reach the youth population, in addition to working with HBYS, NAC recently launched its Transition Age Youth Program for 18 to 21 year olds. The program's goals are to help young adults attain positive outcomes in sobriety, physical and spiritual wellness, and community independence with the support of recovery coaches and their outpatient team.
"The addition of these services is of great significance to Native American Connections because we will be able to help an even greater population within the community and these are much needed services", said president and CEO Diana Yazzie Devine. "Ultimately our goal is to build healthy communities and this will help us do that". NAC will begin serving the youth population on Monday, March 8th, 2010.
