Native American Connections Kicks-Off Adopt-A-Room program!

12.11.09

On December 11th, 2009 Native American Connections officially kicked-off its Adopt-A-Room program! The Adopt-A-Room program invites community groups, corporate and non-profit organizations and individuals to decorate and/or furnish a room at one of our facilities.

The program kicked-off at Guiding Star Lodge which provides residential treatment for women and dependant children. Four rooms were adopted during the December kick-off and sponsoring groups had the opportunity to meet and hear the success stories of the women in recovery living at Guiding Star.

Choice Hotels, Native American Connections' Board members and the Native American Connections management team generously donated their time and effort to the Adopt-A-Room project. They purchased new furnishings and donated gently used items to decorate the rooms which resulted in wonderful room makeovers!

Participants had a wonderful time dressing up the rooms and residents were thrilled with the results and some were even moved to tears! One ecstatic recipient of a room makeover stated: "I am so grateful that people care enough to give back to the community and help programs like this. I love my new room!"

The next Adopt-A-Room project is scheduled for Friday, April 16th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Guiding Star Lodge. To adopt a room with your organization or friends contact Marisa Arellano Velazquez at (602) 254-3247 or email m.arellano@nativeconnections.org.

This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved in your community and will help women and children who are making a new start to feel comfortable and welcome!
