Southwest Certification Board

The Southwest Certification Board (SCB) is approved by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as an approved testing site. Southwest is also recognized by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners for continuing education hours for recertification.

The jurisdiction of Southwest Certification Board (SCB) is defined by The International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) as counselors working in IHS funded agencies, tribal agencies, Native owned agencies, and agencies primarily serving Native clients in the Southwest United States.

Individuals seeking the prevention or criminal justice certifications may request applications and information by contacting Southwest Certification.

IC & RC Reciprocity

The Southwest Certification Board administers the IC & RC Reciprocity Exam and recognizes the credentials of any other IC & RC Alcohol Drug Counselors.

The Southwest Certification Board offers the IC & RC Credentialing Exam. This exam is required for the following certifications through SCB: Counselor II and Counselor III, Criminal Justice Professional, and Prevention Specialist, and Certified Clinical Supervisor. In addition, this exam is a part of licensing application requirements in the State of Arizona.

In order to register for the IC & RC Reciprocity exam, payment for the EXAM ($150) is required one week before the date of the PREPARATION CLASS.

The PREPARATION CLASS is recommended, but not required. Study materials may be purchased from www.readytotest.com or Native American Connections.

The next Prep Exam will has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Registration for the December Exam is now open. Please download the registration form from the link on the left.  Registration for the exam is assured only if the form and payment are postmarked by November 12, 2008.
