Strong Teeth, Strong Kid

Toby the Tooth

For Totally AHHH-SOME TEETH, Toby the Tooth recommends:

Brushing your teeth 2 times a day! A brushing calendar will help your family get in the habit of brushing 2X a day.

Eating healthy foods – avoid sugary foods and drinks!

Seeing a dentist twice each year starting when that first tooth appears!

About the Strong Teeth, Strong Kid Campaign

AI/AN children, ages 1 to 5, have the highest rates of tooth decay in the United States. To address this oral health crisis, Native American Connections, Arizona American Indian Oral Health Initiative, and other oral health partners throughout Arizona have teamed up to create positive change.

The Strong Teeth, Strong Kid campaign runs from November 2019 (Native American Heritage month) to and throughout February 2020 (National Children's Dental Health month).  With help from parents, grandparents, caregivers and other community/state/tribal partners, we can eradicate the most common chronic disease for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children—tooth decay.
