Road to Healing Tour: Federal Indian Board School Initiative Stops at the PISVC

The Phoenix Indian School Visitor Center welcomes honored guests.

Yesterday NAC’s Phoenix Indian School Visitor Center hosted eight employees of the U.S. Department of Interior Indian Affairs with Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs Bryan Newland in attendance. Molita Yazzie, Elena Selestewa, and CEO Diana Yazzie Devine provided an overview of the history of the Phoenix Indian School. Former student and Curator Patty Talahongva and Park Manager Tammy Parker provided a tour of the grounds and the two other historic buildings, Memorial Hall and the Dining Hall. Tribal Community Members are invited to attend two PUBLIC EVENTS: The Road to Healing, which will serve as a year-long tour across the country to provide survivors of the Federal Indian boarding school system and their descendants an opportunity to share experiences.
